Dave Zeal - Pieces of the Broken Road [top15]
Dave Zeal is our second scout from Italian net-label Sine3pm (after Daniel Maze). He is making music for as long as he can even remember: playing piano in the childhood, appearing in some teenage bands, and finally he found himself in computer music.

Working with numerous granular loops with automated controllers for filters, effects and pitches, Dave is creating very solid, stylish and beautiful ambient techno. Maybe somehow and sometimes it's a little bit too minimal, but we still enjoy it very much.
Pieces Of The Broken Road can be a perfect sequel for the ambient album Provisions For The Restless Hour, released in 2006 at Sine3pm. Don't forget to check it too.
Special thanks to Dave Zeal for the amazing cover art.

Excursion into Ambient Drone/Ambient -Techno
With Pieces of the Broken Road, Dave Zeal delivers an absolutely brilliant fusion of grainy ambient, smoothly rhythmic techno, and fuzzy minimal glitch . Three of the tracks: Thermal and Magnetic, Horizontal Passage, and Within Ten Thousand Miles are soothing, beatless side-trips into granular ambient drones. Thermal and Magnetic has a reflective, nostalgic atmosphere while Horizontal Passage is a straightforward, calming looped drone. Within Ten Thousand Miles has a beautiful orchestral-ambient feel along with light layers of static glitch floating above some crystal clear tones. The remaining six tracks are mostly brief, light beat-oriented and, at times, melodious excursions into the blurry genre of ambient-techno with emphasis on the ambient part. A very nice and refreshingly unique release from Dave Zeal. -LAJ-
